ILST (Introduction to Leadership Training) is a yearly event for troops. During this campout, scouts learned a combination of leadership skills and basic knowledge of outdoor scouting skills. There was a test to assess the information that everyone learned. For scouts that passed the assessment, they earned the Trained Patch. During this campout, parents cooked amazing food for scouts, and there was a white elephant gift exchange. Everyone had a great time together!
Bearpaw is an annual winter campout that takes place at a variety of locations. This year we had the campout at Sugar Pine State Park. The scenery was amazing. This campout contrasted with normal campouts by displaying extremely cold weather, and it is very lucky that there was adequate snow such that everyone was able to build snow caves and sleep in them. This was the first Bearpaw since the pandemic, so it provided a unique experience and challenge for many scouts and parents alike.
The Chinese New Year Celebration is typically an annual 2 hour long day event celebrating Chinese New Year. During the event, scouts watched an amazing lion dance, did a riddle competition, and enjoyed traditional Chinese food and snacks that were provided by adult volunteers. Lastly, they received lucky red envelopes from the scoutmaster.
The March Geocaching campout was a fun activity campout held at Del Valle Regional park. During this event, everyone hiked about 5 miles and found many geocaches during the hike. After the hike, scouts had some free time and played Capture the Flag and Chaos Tag. Overall, it was a very fun campout.
For 2022 Q1, 16 scouts advanced to the next rank and 2 of those scouts advanced 2 ranks in 1 quarter. Way to go scouts!
