X-Miler is one of Troop 453's long-standing traditions where scouts participate in a multi-day camp-out involving challenging outdoor activities. This year, our troop set out on a three-day-long hiking expedition to Lassen Volcanic National Park, exploring the North-Californian wilderness and climbing Lassen Peak.
Summer Camp at Camp Oljato had scouts raving about the "brisk and refreshing" water as well as the amazing staff and welcoming environment, and many younger scouts completed some of their first merit badges there.
Summit was held in the hot and humid climate of West Virginia, where scouts found many ways to take their mind off the heat including white water rafting, gun shooting, and much more.
In the past years, our troop hasn’t engaged in backpacking on a troop level, as it was typically reserved for high-adventures like Philmont. This year’s backpacking trip allowed scouts and parents to experience backpacking in Yosemite National Park, and camp and hike in the Yosemite Valley.
This year, our troop hosted Plastic Axe throwing and Connect 4 at the KFF festival. Scouts also had the opportunity to do wagon sales for popcorn sales.
Shoutout to all the scouts who were able to sell popcorn in the unbearable heat. Both 453 and 2453 were able to meet their goals, and each celebrated at their End of year Celebrations with the money made.
Troop 453 was honored with the task of hosting this year's CASA Camporee, in which scouts from different troops bonded and had a great time competing in competitions.
Congratulations to all the scouts who advanced this quarter! The room was filled with advancing scouts and proud parents.
